I used this on my girlfriends cat and within about 30 seconds I had a handful of fur. I gets both the undercoat and the top coat. I think it does a better job on the under coat, but regardless it gets a lot of fur. If you press down two hard it will pull out fur if you are not careful, but for the most part it is just an overall great pet brush.
