Democracy of War The and you
I’m sure I’ll be duplicating some of the reviews, but I had to add my love of these books. I, like so many, thought these were books for teenagers and ignored the series completely for the longest time. My friend said she started to read them and encouraged me to try the first one just to see. We both have kids in elementary school so we aren’t the “target audience”, although I truly believe these books aren’t YA. (Stephenie even said herself that the first one was never written that way, it is just the genre they got put into.)
So, I began reading, and began falling in love with this story. There are a few words that get repeated too often and there are even typos here and there, but it didn’t matter. You get to step into another world and learn all about these wonderful characters with Stephenie’s fantastic descriptions. And you literally feel the passion going on between them!
I’ve seen the first movie, but will not see any more. There is just no comparison since there is soooo much more in the books. I have read all four books (and the Midnight Sun draft online) and would say Twilight is my favorite of the published ones in this series. But I love each one since it continues the story. It will be hard to find something better, but I hope to find other books as good.

Words With War of watch out
Fight, Rob Halford’s first band after leaving Judas Priest for a spell in the ’90’s, just rocks! Their WAR OF WORDS album is timeless, I’ve listened to it regularly since it was released…what…sixteen years ago? The songs…the lyrics…the passion…THE MAN…Halford.
Obviously, I’m a little bit slanted in reviewing this, because Halford is one of my fave artists in the metal scene, his voice and songs always have been an inspiration, but this definitive collection of the early FIGHT era, featuring spectacular live footage of this incredible band, is unbeatable. The entire WAR OF WORDS album is played out right before our eyes when it happened, using footage from all over the globe to compose one “greatest hits” visual experience. The audio and sound editing of these gigs is perfect.
The “making of” segments are short and fun, I wished for more here, love the behind the scenes stuff, but we take what we can get. Highly enjoyable.
The remastered WAR OF WORDS album included with the DVD is a real treat! Love the original release but this was just a mind-blowing surprise, the songs have never sounded better or more relevant. Part of the appeal is just the really good lyrics that accompany these tunes, compared to most of the so-so stuff that comes down the pike in the metal genre. That’s why I’m such a discriminating fan when it comes to my metal, and I must say Halford always delivers, the FIGHT- War of Words album and the HALFORD-Crucible albums are about the best you can get.
So if you’re a fan of Rob Halford or heavy metal from the ’90’s and into the 21st Century (old school metal fused with current updates) you will really dig this package.
It’s good to see Rob back in Judas Priest, but I’m one of those fans who also believes that Halford really delivered some of his best—and most personal—work in the Fight/Two/Halford days, so I really look back on those fondly and appreciate MGE keeping those days alive with these excellent releases.
