It seems to pass off a very controlling, obsessive, and stalker type fellow as a caring love interest. Vampire or not, the way Edward watches Bella while she sleeps and often hurts her when he holds her arm seems to be an unhealthy obsession with the girl rather than true love. And Bella seems attracted to this alpha-male character which in real life would set her up for an abused wife situation. So, yes, the book is entertaining. But I hesitate at the style of passive aggressive infatuation that it promotes as love.
