I got my 3 year old this bike for Christmas..the second time he rode it for more than a few minutes the “light year” stickers on the training wheels fell off. On his second or third longish ride, one of the pedals came unscrewed and fell off. It was easily replaced, but it made me realize I was going to have to glue them in. The training wheels seem to come loosely fairly easily as well.

The assembly was easy,it’s a nice looking bike, and my kid loves it so I can’t say it is all bad.
Huffy Disney Cars Boys

Packaging terrible, bike decent.. I read the other reviews before buying, so I was aware of the packaging complaints. But, like others who wrote, my son really wanted THIS bike, and I needed to have Mongoose Strike Boys BMX Bike quickly for his birthday in January. I’ve had good experience with Amazon before, and so I took the risk. I mean, what were the chances of it happening to me too?

Quite high as it turns out. The bike arrive on time in a box that was virtually destroyed. Both sides had been punched through and repaired with yards of clear packing tape somewhere along the way. Some small parts inside the box may have been lost. We haven’t tried to assemble the bike yet, so I don’t know if we have everything we need. The frame and wheels look undamaged so we may be OK.

The large panels on the box need to be reinforced or padded so that the frame of the bike doesn’t punch through during loading, transport and storage. I have never in my life had any item arrive with packing in that condition. It was almost comical – except that it was a $100+ dollar item that is difficult to return.

So buyer beware. Until the packaging problem is addressed, you’re really rolling the dice on what condition the bike will be in upon arrival.

Good sturdy bike but damaged during shipping. Bought this bike for my 7 year old son along with a similar one (Mongoose Chill) for my 10 year old daughter. Both bikes arrived damaged — one had missing and bent parts, another had broken and bent parts. Problems were solved (both Amazon and Pacific Bicycle were helpful) but it was a long and frustrating experience. Allow 1 hour for assembly. The bikes are sturdy and well made, but a little bit crude. They are heavy and only have a single speed so they are not good for hills. But they look cool, and my kids love them! My 7 year old is a little bit small for the bike, my 10 year old is a little bit big on hers. Both my kids are average size, so I think the guideline of 7-11 years old is accurate.

damaged during shipping- poor replacement options. Bike arrived in a busted up box, missing pieces and damaged. Amazon offered several less than ideal replacement options.

Who knows if the bike is any good. But I have noticed several other customers mentioning that the bikes arrived broken or bent, I just wanted to let you know that trying to get a replacement isnt easy and from the looks of things its going to takes us weeks to get a new bike. Hope its not snowin’.

Works great, very easy to use. Not sure why others are calling it cheaply made. I put one up about 6 months ago, it looks great, it works great, and the rope is plenty strong for what it needs to do. I am extremely pleased, and I’m going to buy another one very soon.

I like it!. A great way to store a bike! We have three of these and I love having the space in my garage!

Cars 12-inch boys bmx bike. This Cars bike was for my 3 year old grandson and he just loves it. The price was fair but the delivery speed was excellent. I would reccomend.

Good for small children. My 3 years old son loves it since he is a Cars freak. Nothing special about this bike other than it is blight red and it is a Lightning McQueen. Assembled easy, but the manual is worthless. Shipping box and packing material was not so good so some parts were sticking out of the box, but no damages were found. Weight distribution is excellent and trading wheel is adjustable. Over all this is an excellent safe bike for small children.

Excellent bike, easy to assemble. The bike was delivered within a week even with free shipping. The package was slightly damaged, but no damage or missing parts inside. We were a little concerned about assembling ourselves based on some of the review comments, but the bike is delivered only partially disassembled. The only parts we had to assemble were the handle bar, the front wheel, two pedals, and the seat. If you have the right tools, the assembly is straight forward. My son loves the bike, especially because he wanted one with gears.

Not up to snuff. I bought 2 of these bikes for my twin boys. The shipping was great and they arrived unscathed, but one of the front frame nuts was missing…Off to the hardware store. My wife and I put the bikes together, but I had to adjust the brakes and the derailer on both bikes. After the boys rode the bikes on the first day, the chain kept getting stuck on 6th gear. I had to keep adjusting. Besides the components being of cheap quality, the frame and tires were fine.[...].

Box shredded, takes a lot of work. This is my second Pacific bike ordered for my kids. Both times, the box is holey and shredded, and I am astounded there are no missing or bent parts. Here are the problems:

It takes a lot of skill to adjust the brakes and gears properly. The instruction book is thick and generic, not specific to this model. I am confident in my bike servicing skills, anybody who buys this should be.

The whole thing is carefully twist-tied together (no lost parts), but this time the adjacent parts rubbed off an area of paint on the frame– no big deal, but not great.

The pedals were labelled improperly: 2 right pedals, but one had the appropriate reverse threads for the left pedal.

The other bike I bought 2 years ago has held up well.

So in sum, this is a good deal, but if you could get the same deal for $20 more assembled that would be worth Pacific Evolution Boys Mountain Bike (but the assembly at a Toys R US might be shakey). A dedicated bike shop would cost more, but would do the best job.

Buy Hooks instead. Like others have experienced, the cords fall apart. A better solution is to buy two large hooks that screw into the ceiling studs, and hang the bike upside down by the rims. There are hooks that have rubber covers and do a better job than the Racor lift.

Wonderful bike mount. The bike mount was easy to install to the ceiling of our garage. The pulley system is very easy to use to get the bikes down. We bought a 2nd one to lift our car topper to the ceiling as well. Everything is tucked away neatly.
