Vata Relaxation Conscious for the best

I fell in love with Eoin Colfer’s Artemis Fowl series a few years ago. Having always been a science fiction and fantasy reader, this series caught my eye during one of those periods life deals us from time to time where one needs a complete escape. Sometimes picking up a book targeted to children or young adults is the best salve for stress.

Colfer’s style is engaging and clever. The depth of detail is such that even during subsequent readings you will discover a new pun or play on words. I highly recommend this series to readers 12 and up. Though the title character is supposed to be an evil genius, readers will soon discover the truth behind his motives and will find themselves rooting for both the humans and the faries in this highly entertaining and fast paced series.

Christopher of Columbus Voyage model

The Forerunner 305 has lived up to expectations, based on my first few weeks of experience. I use it for jogging/walking and it appears consistent and accurate based on about 10 outings of 6 mile length.

Positives: Light weight, easy to read, much flexibility on output displays, docks and synchronizes seemlessly with the Garmin Training Center software, works as advertised. I particularly like to display current pace as well as average pace.

Negatives (but none are serious): Takes 30 to 45 seconds to find satellites. I have a short attention span and tend to get impatient waiting for it to lock onto the satellites.

Tip: I occasionally record a false start by accident, then stop the run after say 5 or 10 seconds. Unfortunately, this “run” is recorded on the GPS. After uploading the data to the Garmin Training Center, I deleted the bogus run from the uploaded records. But every time I dock/sync, the short run was restored to the training record. The solution is to upload data, delete the unwanted record, clear the GPS memory, then send the remaining good records from the Training Center back to the GPS device. Said another way, I couldn’t find a way to delete a record directly from the GPS, but the workaround accomplishes the same thing.

Take Eagles Freezes The Hell now

If you are thinking about buying a concert DVD this should be your first. I read one bad review about this DVD and that guy must not have true DTS cabability, because the whole concert is in true DTS. Buy it even if you are not a big eagles fan.

Today about Vol Gasaraki 3 Betrayal

Gasaraki is truly one of the most quickly captivating “mecha” anime I have ever had the opportunity to watch, and by volume three it has not yet let me down. In volume three, the war against Belgistan has finally come to an end, and Yushiro and Miharu have been seperated from one another, for what seems like the last time.

Peace doesn’t last long as Belgistanian forces infiltrate the Gowa complex and uncover a shocking secret about Yushiro’s past. Yushiro must now contemplate his very identity as he goes on a journey to discover answers to questions shrouded in mystery and obscured by history. As a result of this revelation, Miharu’s new mission is to capture Yushiro and bring him back to Belgistan, but will she be able to do so before he awakens a hellish monster sleeping deep within the Gowa shrine? Meanwhile, the Japanese forces start testing a new drug that will enhance fighting ability inside the TA’s, but its results can be disastrous…

Volume three of Gasaraki keeps you constantly on your toes as more and more secrets are revealed. The video and audio quality is superb, and what you can nomally come to expect from ADVision’s releases on DVD. Another thing you can expect from ADV is the sheer amount of extras that will be put on their releases. Everything from character sketches to an interview with the director of Gasaraki, and even a recording session with a voice actor. There’s even a glossary of terms used in Gasaraki to help you sort out what means what. The DVD menus are also very pleasant to look at and look like they were very professionaly done, unlike the DVDs released by most anime companies.

If I had to find a single down side to this DVD would be the small amount of episodes on it. While 3 episodes may still be customary for a VHS release, 3 episodes on DVD is almost nothing. With companies like Bandai releasing 5 or more episodes of their shows on a single DVD, a mere 3 is quite pathetic.

Overall, Gasaraki Volume 3 on DVD is almost perfe

Get 12 PowerShot SD960IS Canon now

I brought the Canon 960is on a Mediterranean cruise this summer and there is no other camera, video or still, that I would have rather had. For my money this is simply a terrific little camera that will give you terrific stills and better video than you ever thought possible with a great-looking, no-hassle Point ‘n Shoot. The stills were very sharp (the image stabilization is very good) and the colors were accurate and vivid. I sometimes choose the Vivid Colors or Positive Film setting for more color ‘punch’ and it never looked overly saturated or grainy. The Canon 960SI feels well balanced and yet solid in your hand, and is light enough to not make you feel weighed down when you easily slip it into your pocket. I also often choose to use the Wide Angle (16:9) format rather than the normal picture format because I shot a lot of vistas, and this worked out quite well.

OUTSTANDING VIDEO, BETTER THAN ‘FLIP’

For me the true revelation of this camera though was the video. It shoots in 720p HD, no that’s not ‘true’ HD and a 1080p camcorder will certainly shoot better video, but the video is still quite stunning, it will look wonderful on your large HD TV, and outshines the standard 480i DV camcorders of just a few short years ago. When I got back home I edited the movie clips to really sweet results that got lots of compliments. The biggest drawback over a dedicated camcorder is that the sound, while acceptable, is not outstanding and not stereo. However, if you are considering the very popular FLIP MinoHD or FLIP UltraHD this camera is by far the better choice. I bought the Flip Ultra and played with it for awhile but the lack of Image Stabilization made it nearly impossible to shoot any type of video without it being quite jittery-looking unless you used a tripod. The fact that the Canon 960is is a better choice for video and just happens to shoot outstanding stills makes this a no-brainer over any FLIP camera.

Do you really like The of literature Columbus ?

I bought this book based on the reccomendation that this book is similar to the Harry Potter series. I believe that this is a terrible comparison. That being said I did enjoy the book, but this is unfortunately nothing close to the Potter series.

Take Michel Design Works Tubby

I’ve heard so many good things about this book, not to mention I’ve read the author’s previous book, Riding Lessons, so I was curious about this one.

Her writing was fantastic in this book, a great improvement over her previous ones, though there was the odd word choice here and there that I raised my eyebrow to. I loved how we got to see the daily life of Jacob as a 90-year-old man, who looks back on his days of his youth, and then we see the true story evolve from his younger version’s eyes. I loved and felt quite a bit of sympathy for the main character when he was older, everything was done realistically; from the passage of time that wore down his body, his inability to do things that he once did, the loss of his ability to remember and keep track of things he should know, and the heartbreak he feels at being left behind by those he loved.

Pictures head the start of each chapter from the pov of the younger Jacob, with amazing insight to the circuses of old. I loved the amount of research she incorporated into the story and it brought a great sense of realism to the already fluid prose. Each of her characters had their flaws, quirks, and even the animals were fresh and had their own voice. Rosie especially was a neat one. I felt sorry for her a lot of times because I’m quite sure the way she was treated probably occurs with great frequency at a lot of circuses or performing acts.

I’m not sure about the ending though, it seemed too neatly wrapped up, and the rising tension to the climax of the book wasn’t as striking as I thought it could be. The prologue, in my opinion, could have been cut out because it sort of took the fun out of the ending.

But anywho, great book. I wasn’t disappointed.
